A woman was shot on Sunday, July 5, at Freedom Fest in Yukon, Oklahoma, on the south side of Chisholm Trail Park near Von Elm Avenue.
The City of Yukon Parks and Recreation hosts a two-day event called Freedom Fest every year on the third and fourth of July to celebrate Independence Day. This 4th of July, afternoon activities were cancelled due to inclement weather and moved to 10 pm the following day. At the beginning of the firework show bystanders witnessed the victim and her husband claiming she had been shot and calling for emergency services. Pafford, a medical service that offers pre- and post-hospital care, quickly arrived on scene to treat the victim.
“We had an ambulance crew and an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) crew on standby Sunday…We were approached by patrons who were there for the firework show reporting that there was a female who had been injured,” said Director of Operations at Pafford Medical, David Macy.
“She was treated initially at the scene by our staff and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation,” Macy said.
The victim was released from the hospital early the morning of July 7, 2026. As of publishing, The Independent View has not been able to gather witness testimony, as this is an ongoing investigation inside the Yukon Police Department. They have currently made no arrests or apprehensions.
