A shooting that left an 18-year-old woman dead and 22 others injured occurred at 9 p.m. Sunday at Arcadia Lake near the Scissortail Campground, according to a statement released by the Edmond Police Department.
“The incident occurred during an unsanctioned party that began after dark and was advertised across multiple social media platforms,” the statement said. It went on to state that the event drew a large crowd of young adults from across the Oklahoma City metro.
Edmond police responded to multiple calls reporting gunshots at the campground. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma City Police Department also responded to the scene.
The statement said there is no danger to the general public at this time.
Twenty-three people were injured, including the 18-year-old woman who later died. The statement said the victims’ injuries varied in severity and included gunshot wounds. Victims were transported or drove themselves to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Court documents identified the suspect as Jaylan Amahad Davis, 18, of Oklahoma City, according to KFOR. The documents show Davis’ bond was set at $1 million on a complaint of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
