A female DoorDash driver was stabbed and received a superficial leg injury around 2 a.m. Wednesday near the UCO campus at Baumann Avenue and Wayne Street, according to the Edmond Police Department.
According to Edmond police Public Information Officer Emily Ward, the DoorDash driver was sitting in her vehicle when an “unknown male suspect” approached and asked for water.
While the driver was reaching for the water, the suspect grabbed a pocketknife from inside the vehicle and stabbed her in the leg. The injury was later determined to be superficial, and the driver denied transport to the hospital.
The suspect fled south after stabbing the driver. Ward said K9 units were deployed to locate the suspect but were not successful.
UCO sent out a Central Alert about the incident at 2:33 a.m. The alert said Edmond police were looking for a white male suspect wearing black “jogger type” clothing. The suspect was also wearing a black beanie and had long hair. Ward confirmed this information is still correct.
The alert said the incident took place at Baumann Avenue and Wayne Street near UCO. The Indy asked Ward for the exact location of the incident, and did not receive a response by the time of publication.
The UCO alert cautioned students to stay aware of their surroundings while the suspect remains at large.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Edmond police at 405-359-4338.
